All of the hats and headpieces listed are created by hand, including hand dying processes to match colours for bases and trims, the crowns and brims are individually blocked for hats and selected fabrics are sculpted for headpieces then finished with high quality feathers, flowers and jewels.
So if you order more than one of each style (e.g. for bridesmaids) there will be slight differences in each, a quirk of the items being handmade.
There are only a few items kept in stock as Sally will create your order as it is placed. If you have ordered a hat she will need your head measurement so that it will fit your head perfectly, a standard size is 22 1/2 inches but it can be made smaller or larger than this.
How to measure your head:
You will need a flexible measuring tape, measure circumference of your head just above top of ears. Wrap tape gently around head making certain tape lies midway on your occipital bone (that little bump in the middle of the back of your head).
*Don’t pull the tape too tightly or your hat will fit that tightly.
Measure 2 or 3 times to be accurate. You now have your head (hat) size. The measurement of the mannequin head is just under 21″ so this would be made as a 21″ crown.
VISITING THE STUDIO
If you are able to visit the studio in Birmingham/Solihull an appointment can be booked for a date and time to suit you. This will give you chance to try on all of the available sample pieces and to discuss all of your ideas with Sally so she can turn your ideas into reality.This process allows for perfect colour matching, using fabrics from your chosen outfit, coordinating trims and a design specifically for you. The process usually needs 3 visits to complete your bespoke millinery piece which will be included in your quote, should you need further consultations these will be charged at £20 per hour.
You can also commission a bespoke piece of your choice even if you can’t get to the studio. Sally can conduct consultation via Skype and regular emails to illustrate progression with designs.

Please note that a hat that is made to measure will take between 3- 6 weeks to create and deliver to you. A headpiece or bridal veil will take between 3-4 weeks to create and deliver. If you need to receive your hat or headpiece sooner, please phone or email us first to arrange a suitable delivery date.Between April and September Sally is very busy but she will try her very best to accommodate your request.
Postage & packaging for all hats is £18 for an overnight UK delivery service and a signature will be required.

Hats; Headpiece orders will be sent in a hatbox where possible or for bridal orders in a smaller sturdy jewellery box, for this reason we prefer to send each order separately. If you would like us to send more than one item together please contact us to discuss packaging options and pricing as we want your orders to arrive in pristine condition.
RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS
All our hats and headpieces are of the highest quality and each one is handmade to order at our studio in Birmingham. For this reason we are unable to accept returns on made to measure items (hats and bespoke commissioned items).
Sally does however want you to feel completely satisfied with your purchase, so if your hat does not match or exceed your expectations, please don’t hesitate to phone the studio on 0121 745 2959 to discuss how the problem can be rectified.
Other stock items for sale in the shop (racing, special occasion and bridal pieces) are returnable within a 7 working day period from delivery date.
You are required to contact the studio on 0121 745 2959 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org within 48hrs of receipt of any purchase to arrange the return.
Once the goods are returned a refund for the full purchase price will be arranged. Sharper Millinery is not liable for the original delivery costs or the return cost unless there is an error on our part or any fault with the goods.
The item must be returned, unworn and in perfect condition with tags still attached.
