- So from these ideas a sketch is produced.
- The shape is agreed as a hat rather than a headpiece on this occasion, it will have the button detail and the swept back brim. We can decide on the position of the feathers once the base is created.
- The client supplied the fabric for this hat as she was having her outfit made. If you have purchased your outfit I can dye fabrics to match or source other materials in the correct colour. You can also opt for a contrast colour for all of your accessories.
- Then leave it with me to create the base (this can often be the hardest part as you have to rely on me interpreting your ideas correctly).
- So this is the shape I created (notice that the swept part of the brim has changed position, this is because it didn’t sit correctly so I made a choice to move it).
- The client agreed on the shape but the yellow band around the crown was to be made thinner. This is where I also need to check the fit of the hat making sure there is enough room inside to add a lining (time for a 2nd consultation). We then experimented on the trims (the exciting bit!)
- Where do the buttons look best?
- Feather position?
- Bows in chocolate and mustard?
- Any other trims?
